BELPER is an historic industrial town situated in Derbyshire, eight miles north of Derby on the A6 trunk road to Buxton and Manchester.  It is situated in the World Heritage Corridor based on the Derwent Valley.

There has been a Wesleyan chapel in the town since 1782 and the current fine Georgian building was opened in 1807. This website continues the tradition of over 200 years Christian witness in Belper.  It tells you about the regular services that we hold on a Sunday, who to contact if you seek information or help, there is a diary of what is happening through the weeks and months and a list of youth activities and social meetings taking place in the school hall.

There is a page devoted to a short account of the history of the chapel

Corona Virus implication for Church life

The Methodist Church has recommended we cease all public worship and cancel all Church meetings and activities for the foreseeable future (in line with the Government’s advice.) Since both Wendy and I are in high-risk groups (as many of you are) I will not be visiting in person.but I will carry out pastoral visits by telephone. Please call me on 07368 117620 if you need pastoral support from me.

I am very aware that many of you look to the church for much of your social as well as spiritual life and you will miss the fellowship keenly – as will I. I would urge you to keep in touch by phone, skype, email, text or whatever other methods you are comfortable with (but if letters or notes are the only means, make sure you wash your hands thoroughly before writing and after reading.)

Please take all reasonable precautions to stay safe and be assured I will be praying for you all.God bless us all in these extraordinary times.

Paul
